KODE5 is now past us. Danish mTw walked out victorious, winning their first major in 2008. Here's your chance to experience KODE5 through zonic's eyes.

"Finally" is probably the first word we thought about when we raised our hands at the last round against fnatic. A great plan and some really hard work finally paid off. I will tell you guys about our trip to Moscow, about the tournament and some details of what went through our heads during the last 4-5 hours of the last day.

ave's house - FRIDAY 9:00 AM

All the players except whiMp slept at ave’s place during our bootcamp, whiMp is the new player so he is not allowed to sleep with us yet, it’s a rule by Lord_Guddo but we all have to accept it. – Nah he just lives closer to the café and airport.

We woke up and started packing our stuff, getting ready for a bus to the train station where we were going to the airport. We entered the bus all 4 of us, when I just remembered I forgot all my gaming equipment back at Alex's place. Me and alex went out of the bus and rushed back to his place where we got it, Sunde and mJe drove and we decided just to meet in the airport. 5 minutes later Sunde calls and says "hey guys, we are not from around here, can’t we just meet at this place" – Ave said "yeah, sure" and we called a cap and picked them up and went to the airport. "A little mistake, but it’s alright".

At the airport we met Nix0n, Lizzard (XplayN.com), guddo and the rest of the players. We grabbed something to eat and started checking in, security check etc. The flight was like 2 hours and 15 minutes so it was no problem. At the plane we started talking about tactics and what kind of gunrounds we were going to use against the Danish team Gravitas etc.

When we landed at the Moscow Airport in Russia, we had to do some Visa check etc, and then the first "Oh No" happened. The guys from KODE5 somehow forgot us or something like that; we had to wait at the airport for like 1 hour, before we decided to get a cap ourselves.
We arrived at the Hotel and we met some of the others team, like fnatic and SK etc. We said hallo and checked in on the hotel. whiMp and I teamed up and we decided to leave our stuff in the rooms and go to the hotel restaurant with the other Danes. After we got something to eat we were pretty tired, and it was getting kind of late, so we went to sleep.

SATURDAY - GROUPSTAGE

I wrote in the blog later on, so I’m not gonna go into details, you can just read the blog I wrote from Moscow, here. We woke up around 7:00 AM. (We had to leave around 8:00) so we took a shower, and went down to the restaurant where we got some breakfast. After that we took the train to the event, it was like a 20 minutes ride, and like 10 minutes walk and it was great to wake up with that every morning. We walked in a group talking about our tactics etc, what we were going to do in our first match, and just the usual stuff.
When we arrived at the event, we met the Danish team Gravitas, we said hallo and started talking about the trip over here, what we thought about Moscow so far etc.

The opening ceremony started and we just couldn’t wait to start, we just wanted to start playing and after the first match which we won (I can’t even remember that match at all) it was time to face our rivals from Denmark, Gravitas Gaming.

mTw group-huddle in the half.

In the beginning we looked pretty shaky, and we were leading like 5-4 as CT on inferno, and I personally started thinking; "okay this is going to be a though match" – But somehow people just started closing down, and our CT Inferno really started to blossom. We won the match 16-8 and we kind of knew we were qualified for the playoffs, unless something really went wrong.

mTw half-time talk versus MYM.

We faced MYM in a tight match, we were actually leading 8-7 as T on nuke, but then we lost some extremely important round as CT, and their lead were just too big to catch up on, so we went down 14-16 to the Polish guys. After we lost that game, I personally felt we could go all the way; it may sounds strange when we lost it, but if you compare our previous games against them they were way ahead of us like every time we played them, but this time we were the ones with the ball.
After that we went home and watched some matches from group B where mousesports, roccat and Hellraisers were fighting about to meet either us or MYM.

SUNDAY - PLAYOFFS

We woke up knowing we were going to face the Ukrainian team called HellRaisers. I would lie if I said I’d rather meet mousesports or roccat, we loved the fact that we were meeting these guys on the stage, and when they arrived they seemed kind of nervous, and that was probably also the reason why it ended like it did. They didn’t know how to break our defense as CT on inferno, and we simply just ran over them.

Next match was against the mighty SK, they picked nuke and we picked inferno. We started out on Inferno where we won 12-3 as CT, we lost the pistol round as T but still managed to close the game before it got too exciting.

On nuke we won 11-4 as CT but somehow they came back into the game, which is a classical move by the SK guys. We lost nuke 14-16!
Final map train, and that was probably one of the most emotional matches we have ever won in our careers. We started out as CT on train losing the pistol round, it’s bad to lose the pistol round as CT; because the CT rounds is so important, but we just told our selves, that’s what happens. But when you start losing more CT rounds and you actually end up losing 8-7 on a map which is so CT dominated, you get pretty shaky.

We also lost the pistol round as T so they really got the game in their hands, but in one eco I remember me shooting 2 or 3 guys and getting a plant before getting down, and that made us buy the next round. We won that buy round and forced them into 1 or 2 eco’s (sorry guys, but really can’t remember the game 100% detailed).
We won the important rounds and the game started going the way we wanted it. We got the 9 rounds and were through to the final against either MYM or fnatic.

This is how you celebrate a win versus SK Gaming.

fnatic won against MYM, and we were facing the Swedes, who we haven’t played against for like over 1½ year on LAN. We love to play against them, and our playing style really fits perfect for theirs, so it couldn’t have been better for us.

We picked Inferno and they picked nuke.
We started out as CT on inferno only giving them 3 rounds; we lost the T Pistol round but came back in the game and won the map 16-6 if I remember correctly.

On nuke we kind of stepped down from the stage talking about NOT making the same mistake as we did against SK. We mostly talked about the terrorist side because that was the reason why we lost the map against SK.

The game started and another perfect CT side from us leading 14-1, we kind of knew there were no way we were going to lose this match. We stepped down from the stage just to clear everything out, and take a break and not rush into things. We lost the pistol round, but won the 4th round and minutes later we won the tournament.

FINALLY!
